  • Interview with Dustin Rosemark - 11/13/11
I welcomed filmmaker Dustin Rosemark into my home on Sunday Nov. 13th 2011 for an interview and solo performance of songs from my ep "this old man," my LP "One Footed Pigeon," and new songs from my upcoming album release.

Dustin picked up a free copy of the demo CD that I put together with long time friends Salamander Army at our O'Gara's show in September. Upon hearing the demo version of my new song, "Water or Wine," Dustin contacted me and asked if I wanted to be a part of a documentary film that he is putting together. The documentary is about folk musicians in Minnesota and features other local songwriters whose music I like including Chris Koza of Rogue Valley and Brianna Lane.

We started the day with breakfast at Victory 44 which is a restaurant that you must check out if you haven't already, seriously, everything they prepare is excellent. Then it was back to my place to set-up the cameras and lights and settle in for my interview and song performances. A big thanks to Dustin Rosemark for including me in his documentary- I can't wait to see the end result! :)

  • New Recordings... 10/9/11
Matthew Inkala & the Hostages went back into the recording studio on Sunday Oct. 9th 2011 to record a secret cover song, shhh, and b-sides for the Yellow Ray single scheduled for release in 2012.

Halfway through our day of recording the power began to turn off and back on every 5 seconds or so and we had to take a break to figure out what the issue was. It turns out that the power failure was affecting thousands of people in the Uptown area. Luckily the problem was fixed within a couple of hours and we were able to get back to work and all of our files were miraculously saved!!

We welcomed Drew Peterson of Pardos into the studio with us to play bass guitar for our new songs : )
